Now, they’re headed to downtown Seattle: The business will debut its first-ever Washington shop, located just three minutes from Pike Place, tomorrow, June 18. The first 200 customers to arrive for the grand opening will receive free merch with their purchases.

This Capitol Hill cafe, which was recently acquired by Victrola Coffee, closed its doors last Friday. According to Capitol Hill Seattle, the previous owners were already planning to close the location, and the new ownership decided to go ahead with the plans. The other Coffee Works locations will remain open, and the Capitol Hill space is set to be taken over by the upcoming Seattle location of Portland-based vegan Jewish deli Ben & Esther’s

owner Jonny Silverberg announced this week on Instagram that it will close its doors after almost three years of business on July 3. The post read, “The economic metrics that we built our business model on no longer exist due to the pandemic and its lasting effects on our economy, costs, and labor.” All is not lost, however—the Schmaltzy’s team plans to open a “new Jewish concept” with a “different way of executing it that fits into how things are now” in a few months.
