Melanie Norton

Melanie Norton
Deputy District Director

The SBA Seattle District announces Melanie Norton is the new Deputy District Director.

In this role Norton will support District Director Kerrie Hurd in all phases of delivering SBA programs and services to the SBA Seattle District, which serves Washington state and northern Idaho.

Norton has been with the SBA since 2013. She started as an Economic Development Specialist in the SBA Seattle District and went on to serve as the Regional Communications Director for the SBA Pacific Northwest Region during the past five years.

Prior to the SBA, Norton was the Public Affairs Specialist for the U.S. Peace Corps West Coast Region. She also served as a Community and Organizational Development Adviser with the U.S. Peace Corps for two years in Bulgaria, assisting local governments and non-government organizations (NGOs) during the country’s accession into the European Union.

Before her career in federal public service, Norton managed a variety of business and government accounts at multiple advertising, public relations and search engine marketing firms, along with work at several nonprofit organizations.

 

Michelle Genovese

Lead Outreach and Marketing Specialist

Recently the SBA Seattle District welcomed Michelle Genovese as the Lead Outreach and Marketing Specialist.

In this role Genovese will lead the marketing, outreach, education and lender development for the SBA Seattle District.

Genovese has been with the SBA since 1998 when she started as a Loan Officer in the SBA Office of Disaster Assistance after a long history working at local banks in the western New York area.

She went on to serve as a Lender Relations Specialist in the SBA Massachusetts District for several years. Most recently, she served as a Financial Analyst in the SBA Office of Financial Assistance in Washington, DC where she assisted with policy development for the SBA’s major lending programs.
